In June 2023 the HM inspectors visited Cawdor Primary School and Early Learning and Childcare (ELC). The report was published on Tuesday 12th September 2023 on the Education Scotland website.
The inspection focused on the following quality indicators of How Good Is Our Early Learning and Childcare (HGIOELC) and How Good Is Our School 4 (HGIOS4):
- 2.3 – Learning, teaching and assessment
- 3.2 – Securing children’s progress/ Raising attainment and achievement.
As part of the inspection, we were graded on these quality indicators. CLICK HERE to read more about the terminology used during inspection. We received the following grades:
| Cawdor Early Learning and Childcare | Cawdor Primary School | |
| 2.3 – Learning, teaching and assessment | very good | very good |
| 3.2 – Securing children’s progress/ Raising attainment and achievement | very good | very good |
A grading of “very good” is defined as:
“An evaluation of very good means that there are major strengths in this aspect of the school’s work. There are very few areas for improvement and any that do exist do not significantly diminish learners’ experiences. An evaluation of very good represents a high standard of provision for all children and young people and is a
standard that should be achievable by all. There is an expectation that the school will make continued use of self-evaluation to plan further improvements and will work towards improving provision and performance to excellent.“
As part of the inspection, three important documents have been produced for our school community. We encourage you to read each document to see the wealth of strengths and our agreed identified next steps.
- The letter details the key strengths and agreed areas for continual improvement
- The ELC Summary of Inspection Findings (SIF) provides the detail for each of the quality indicators in our ELC
- The Primary Summary of Inspection Findings (SIF) provides the detail for each of the quality indicators in our school.
The inspection validated our self-evaluation as a school community. You can read how we continue to improve the educational journey of our school community through our School Improvement page on our website.
